Sydney
Sydney was founded next to the Tank Stream that could supply fresh water. 
​Within a few years the locals had polluted the stream and another source of fresh water had to be found

One wonders how those early settlers felt after months at sea?

International trade developed and in 1788 they built a ‘customs house’ that must have been an imposing building in its day

And the construction of imposing building did not stop there.

Before the bridge was built, Sydney had the largest network of ferries in the world.

Central Railway Station.The original Sydney station was opened in 1855 in an area known as Cleveland Fields. The current station was built in 1906

It was not long before travelers could fly into Sydney.  A 10 day service costing more than an average annual salary.  Tourist flights still operate from Rose Bay.

The ladies of the day needed somewhere to shop so in 1892 'The Strand' arcade opened.

Gates to what was the ‘Palace Garden’, now the botanic gardens.The Garden Palace was a large, purpose-built exhibition building constructed to house the Sydney International Exhibition in 1879 in Sydney.  It was destroyed by fire in 1882

Cockatoo Island.  A UNESCO world-heritage-listed island in the middle of beautiful Sydney Harbour.
